Recreation Therapy
Recreation therapy is a systematic process that utilizes recreation and other activity-based interventions to address the needs of individuals. At Meadowbrook Rehabilitation Hospital, recreation therapy is used to address the needs of the brain injury patients. After a brain injury, our patients need help learning how to live and adjust to their disability. Recreational therapists treat and help maintain the physical, mental, and emotional well-being of our patients by seeking to reduce depression, stress, and anxiety, helping them recover basic motor functioning and reasoning abilities and build confidence so they can socialize effectively.
At Meadowbrook, our recreational therapist assesses these needs through a variety of programming such as:

Music Therapy
Music Therapy is a board-certified, evidence-based allied therapy that uses music interventions to accomplish a wide variety of goals. At Meadowbrook Rehabilitation Hospital, our music therapist is certified in neurologic music therapy (NMT).
This specialty utilizes standardized clinical techniques based on the scientific knowledge of music perception and production and their effects on nonmusical brain and behavior functions. NMT goals and interventions in rehabilitation are designed for development and maintenance of functional behaviors.
